The Tories are content with fptp

Fptp enables the left to do well because it means if we do not want socialism we only have one possible alternative. If we assume one party in a fptp system will be of the left then the only option for people who do not like socialism is for them to vote for the Tories. People do not like to be 'forced' to vote for a single party and to not have a genuine choice. People like choice which is why pr is more effective against socialism. If people can choose from many different anti-socialist parties (including those who legalise drugs) then socialism will not do well. Socialism thrives in a fptp system because it appears to be the default alternative to the Tories. Under fptp if we are not Tories we are socialists. But with pr we can be anti-Tory and not socialists. Which means that socialism is much less likely to prosper under pr.
