Some old things are bad

It is strange not to (be progressive and) want the best possible voting system. Progressive people would like the best possible voting system for their country which means (where it exists) they would like to replace fptp with pr. People who want to replace fptp with pr are progressive which is good. It is not good to oppose beneficial change for no reason. Negative conservatism is a false ideology. Some things which are old are bad. Not all old things are good.
